FAQ'S

What exactly is Crosslove Theatre?
An ARTISTIC theatre company that specializes in producing work that focuses on Christian themes and inspirational messages.  Our shows are usually family-friendly, but sometimes are not.  We produce published known works as well as original works.  Our theatre has become a playground for Christian artists, or those looking to work in an inspirational enviorment, to create and tell stories through their eyes.

Where is Crosslove Theatre?
We are located at Lindley Park Church, 4010 Walker Avenue, in Greensboro, NC.  We operate out of the theatre in Andrew's Place, located underneath the Lindley Park Church Sanctuary.

Are you a professional company?
We do not have a paid staff, nor to we pay actors.  Our directors are given a $200.00 stipend for their work.  But that's where that ends.  Our productions do offer a professional quality.  Our directors come from all around the theatre community, and have various experience.  We mostly work with directors that hold or are working on degrees in directing or acting.  Occasionally, directors have worked for years as professional actors.

So you're a church drama group?
Not by any means.  We are, at heart, a theatrical company, with an artistic vision.  Church drama groups produce works to evangelize, and can often be sugarcoated.  Crosslove Theatre produces work for the artistic purpose of expression and story telling.  We might produce shows that churches do, but do so with the artistic mindset.

Who can audition?
Anyone and everyone!  We audition shows through a two step process.  We have open auditions to include as much new talent as possible.  However, the majority of the time, we finish open auditions still in need of actors.  At that point, we select actors from the community to finish the casting.

What do I need to bring to auditions?
You need yourself, a resume, and your personal calendar.  Usually, rehearsal schedules will be made after casting.  So we need to know your conflicts between the auditions and the performance date.

Do I need prior experience to audition?
Not at all.  While we do cast actors who have theatrical experience, the vast majority of our actors are new to the stage.  Many have gone on to work in other, professional venues.

I want to direct a show.  How can I do that?
First thing is you need to provide us a resume of your work.  We usually require some college education in theater whether a major or minor in theater.   Sometimes our directors are directing their first main stage show, to get experience, and to apply what they learn at the college level.

I have a play I'd be interested in having produced.  Can I submit mine to you?
Of course!  We are always looking for new work to do.  It must follow three rules: 1) No cursing.  If there is, you must allow us to remove or substitute it (unless it is CRUCIAL to the story).  2) It must have some sort of inspirational/Christian theme or message.  It can be blunt, in your face or it can be subtle, but it must be there.  3) You must be open to criticism.  If we ask that you do a re-write, that doesn't mean we do not like.  On the contrary, we might love it, and want to produce it.  However, if it needs a rewrite, we will tell you.  We have prided ourselves on being a jumping off point for many original works.

Where can I purchase tickets?
You don't.  Our show are FREE OF CHARGE to the public.  Donations are ALWAYS accepted.
